While Ron Rivera was able to keep his job as Carolina Panthers head coach next season, not everyone on his staff will enjoy the same fate.

Running backs coach John Settle, receivers coach Fred Graves and linebackers coach Warren Belin were all given their pink slips, the team announced on Tuesday.

Rivera hired all three coaches shortly after taking over for John Fox two years ago. Naturally, his decision to go in a different direction was an extremely difficult one.

"These were tough decisions because each of these coaches has played an instrumental role on our staff over the last two seasons," Rivera said in a team statement. "However, I have decided to go in a different direction at these positions."

According to the Charlotte Observer, offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski and defensive coordinator Sean McDermott will be retained in their current roles.
