Surprise, surprise.

Cam Newton is the object of more criticism – this time for something he did nearly a year ago.

According to Pete Prisco of, AFC Pro Bowl players targeted the Carolina Panthers quarterback during last year's game because of how he acted during that week.

Prisco reports that several players found Newton's behavior to be "standoffish" and like a "diva."

Among Newton's alleged transgressions were "dissing" Ray Lewis and turning down one player's request for a picture and autograph for a family member.

"He was a total —-hole," one AFC player told Prisco. "Who did he think he was? He acted like the big s—. Here he was at his first game and he acted like he was the star. Guys didn't like that."

"It didn't matter who it was, he didn't care about anybody but himself," another player told Prisco.

It certainly appeared like the AFC defenders had it out for Newton, who was the only quarterback sacked in the game.

The Pro Bowl isn't designed to be a competitive, hard-fought game, but rather a fun showcase of the NFL's premier talent.

I have no idea what Cam Newton did or said to rub these players the wrong way, but it's hard to think that these "unnamed" athletes are any better.

If a player has a problem with one of their peers, they should come out and say it. Don't wait a year and then hide behind the cloak of anonymity.

One thing is for sure – Cam Newton isn't the only one that needs to grow up.
